Residential Solar Planning.

When looking at purchase and installation cost for solar panels and wind turbines, incentives and rebates are available in some countries. We have complied a global list of incentive programs for you, which we work to keep updated as new program information is available. Most countries offering incentives for upgrading to renewable energy require that you do a qualifying energy assessment, also called a home energy audit. Depending on where you live you may be able to get a free energy audit through your current power company, otherwise audits can start at about $150 with a rebate and up, depending on the size of your home. Even if you're not interested in applying for incentives or rebates, getting a home energy audit can wind up saving you money. At this stage also be sure you know about zoning permits or any other permits required specific to where you live. If you are thinking about do it yourself solar and wind installations, make sure your permit office is aware as they may have specific requirements that you follow. One important requirement of some incentive and rebate programs is that you use qualified technicians to install your solar or wind system so you may not qualify for incentives if you want to do it yourself. Check out incentive programs thoroughly in your area, as things are changing all the time.

Audits will answer many of the initial questions you have about solar and wind tech and will identify ways you can improve home energy efficiency or identify changes you may need to make to qualify for government incentives. Solar Energy companies tend to charge a bit more for an assessment. We would suggest exploring all your options before paying $350 or more to private auditors. It's fair to say that residential Solar Energy vendors care a great deal about the environment and the benefits of the products they sell, however the market still currently dictates the cost of these products and services. In our area Solar Panel companies doing a home installation cost anywhere from about $10,000 to $50,000, but price varies around the world. We also found incentive packages, tax credits and financing options offered, to be very generous in some countries, so do check them out.

We would also highly recommend contacting organizations that are set up to assist consumers with this whole process, and can give you the low-down on applying for incentives. We know that the US and Canada both have this type of service and it costs nothing to call them and ask a few questions and inquire about setting up an assessment. Again check our incentives list for contact information and resources. If you notice that we've missed some important consumer incentive information that you would like to see listed here for others to know about, we would greatly appreciate your feedback.

Remember that solar is simple, clean and effective at generating ongoing free energy for your home.
